Farewell

February 9th, 2015

Melanie Tem. She and Steve Rasnic Tem were the week-long instructors from my year at the Odyssey Workshop 2005; kind, wise, helpful; and Steve Rasnic Tem I bought a story from for BCS and had several great chats at WFC cons, including last November in DC.

Farewell, Melanie Tem, on your journey out into the High Sea on into the West.

Beneath Ceaseless Pies!

January 23rd, 2015

Pie, beer, literary adventure fantasy, chemistry, the human heart in conflict with itself, and much much more in my friend and BCS author Fran Wilde’s latest episode of her podcast Cooking The Books, on me and Beneath Ceaseless Skies!

Quest for CBS (Stout)

January 20th, 2015

I hit my local Whole Foods Beer Market this afternoon to get a taste of Founders’s Canadian Breakfast Stout.

Loitered with a regular Breakfast Stout and met some local fellow craft beer nuts, stood in line with a Founders Imperial Stout, then read two chapters of Glen Cook’s classic The Black Company while sipping–a read as dark as the stout.

CBS was full and rich and aromatic and bourbon-y like KBS. Hard to compare it in my mind to the last draught KBS I had, last spring, but it had a mouth-feel that was slightly sticky or sugary, so maybe that was the maple syrup traces coming through.

At ConFusion This Weekend!

January 15th, 2015

This weekend I’m at ConFusion in Detroit again, with my Odyssey pals Michael J. DeLuca, Jason Ridler, and Justin Howe.

We’re all on a handful of panels, and otherwise certain to be found on that raised dais area in the middle of the hotel lobby, likely in great cheer from libations smuggled in under the table.  Feel free to say hello!
